enjoying our tree

One good thing about the short days this time of year is that we can turn the Christmas tree lights on sooner each evening!
My mother once told me that when she was little her parents would put up and decorate the tree after she and her brother went to bed on Christmas Eve. So part of the joy of Christmas morning for her was seeing the tree for the first time. (Now I wonder if my grandparents did that to save money on a bargain tree, or if it was truly a family tradition from the Old Country).
I am glad I can enjoy my tree all month long!
