Switched On

To be switched on is essential at this time of the year, whether it be with to do lists or with illumination.
The lists have been written, rewritten and edited and seem under control, but with illumination needed between the hours of 3:30 pm until 9am the following morning and often in between times when the sky falls earthwards, then when your favourite floor standing reading light gives up the ghost you are in trouble.

We used to have a stock of the old fashioned but now maligned big round bulbs 60w, 100w and if you wanted it bright as sunlight 240w. Now we have these European proscribed horrible two tube things that when switched on, start dimly and get marginally brighter eventually, or the tricky to insert miniature miniature UFO bulbs for concealed ceiling lights.

However the reading lamp uses tiny glass slug like things with 2 thin metal prongs that need to be inserted into even even smaller holes, and as we had none of those to hand this meant an short excursion to the Land of Lights to pick one up. 12v 60w and we are back in business:harsh central lights don't cut the mustard with me.

I notice that the most modern table lamps and Christmas tree lighting consists of LED lights. If they fail, you have had it.
