Use your pharmacist – the health expert on your do

Winter is officially here and the NHS in East Leicestershire and Rutland is urging people to make use of their pharmacist over the coming weeks.

·         Advice for coughs, colds and sore throats can be given by pharmacists.  Pharmacists are highly qualified health care professionals, training for five years to become experts in medicines and in giving health and wellbeing advice.

·         Many people are unaware of the services a modern pharmacist can offer including quick, confidential advice on a range of common illnesses.  Most have a consultation room so you don’t need to discuss your health concerns at the counter.

·         Pharmacies are often open during evenings and at weekends and are easily accessible being located in rural areas, towns and supermarkets.  Also you do not need an appointment to see your local pharmacist.
