Stock car funeral

Today I assisted with the organisation of the funeral of Steve Newman, killed recently at a stock car race meeting in Mildenhall. He was a local to this village but had a national reputation in the stock car racing world. Consequently, this morning the village was full of stock cars from all over the UK, police and film crews. About 600 hundred people attended the funeral and a PA was rigged up for those outside the church which, although a large building, was full to overflowing. I did not know Steve personally but he was obviously much loved and well respected and the numbers who turned out were a testament to a full and rich life. RIP Steve.
