Christmas Card 10 - Snowman

It was Irns who first found him. It was the end of a good Summer and the ice had melted back. Irns could see the frozen man lying under the ice. The whole Village talked about what to do - but then the snows came and the body disappeared from view.

Twelve years went by before another hot Summer pulled back the snows enough to reveal the man again, suspended in clear, glacial ice. This time, there was no debate, no suggestion that the body should be removed. But people came to look and to pay their respects.

Since then, the ice has allowed the body to be seen several times. It is the generally-accepted definition of a good Summer...

And Irns? He was my great-great-great-grandfather.
