Early Morning

It was an early morning this morning but managed to get the boys out before I headed off to Milton Keynes for the funeral of an old friend.
Paul 'Tojo' Lydon and I were in training together in 1965 at RAF Cosford, he was 6 months younger than me but had suffered from ill health for a number of years.
I didn't see Paul after we left training until the internet got the 303rd Craft Apprentice Entry back together again for our first reunion in 2003, which was held at RAF Cosford appropriately enough.
We've had further reunions most years since then but also got together with Paul at the Oman RAF Veterans reunions as he served in Masirah as well but a few years later than I did.
Why was he called 'Tojo', the story goes that this came about after another attendee at the funeral, Roy Black, took a photo of Paul lying face down in the desert sands of Masirah and everyone said he looked like a floored Japanese Sumo Wrestler, from then he was known as Tojo.
Ma'a salama Siddiqi, rest in peace wherever you are.
