Moish

Despite a lot of rain in the night the contractors returned to help T cover the silage with plastic sheeting and old tyres. End of chapter! Soon the livestock will have new grazing as the grass grows afresh in the mown fields. T and N then went to a neighbouring farm to bring back seven newly weaned calves to add to our numbers.

Meanwhile D and I went out for a lovely afternoon. Driving to East Lambrook Gardens we had coffee and homemade cake in the Malthouse and then went upstairs to view Moish Sokal's present exhibition. Moish is a Israeli who has lived Somerset for decades but travels the world far and wide to find subjects for his watercolour paintings which are full of soft and vibrant colours. At the present time he has been inspired by India and the colours of Rajasthan - the camel traders and the women in their brightly coloured saris washing clothes at the water's edge. Earlier in the 90's he painted many pictures of the local villages here in Somerset. A lively soul with a ready smile.
