New Day. New Picture

A Hill Too Far

It all started off so promisingly. The torrential downpour on the journey up cleared up for what turned out to be a rain free, and pretty sunny day of hill climbing.
Headed for Ben Chonzie one of the closest Munros to home (Munro = mountain 3000+ feet/900+ metres) which is near Crieff.
An early wrong turning put us off course and heading for the wrong peak. Eventually made the summit of Ben Chonzie around 5pm ish. Enjoyed the views, had a snack before heading off on the second half of the circular walk.
It seemed like it should be plain sailing. But we had underestimated the siz/steepness of the cliffs. Cutting a long story short, it was very heavy going getting back which included ascents of 2 (or was it 3) other smaller peaks.
Were starting to get concerned that we wouldn't make it off the hill before dark. Didn't fancy the steep descent in torchlight!

We eventually made it back to the car park at 10pm. Shattered.
The plan was to watch the Euro 2012 Football final back in a pub in Edinburgh.
Completely missed it.

Better planning required next time!
