In Thunder, Lightening or in Rain!

Sydney put on another temper tantrum of a storm today, with wild winds, lightening storms, torrential rain and to top it off, the Eastern suburbs got whacked with a mini tornado.

Not the best day to go gallivanting, but we had tickets to see the Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf Revue (a fabulous political satire), which we’ve been following for a number of years.

This year it was difficult to get tickets, so we ended up going to a matinee and left the house right at the height of the storm!  Anyway, we arrived in town well weathered with non-fussed coiffures.

As is usual the show was absolutely hilarious, with actors taking the mickey out of most of Australia’s political and public figures, after all, we just have so many subjects to make fun of in Oz.

The Greek Eurodivision song contest was particularly, side-splittingly funny as was their take on past Aussie prime ministers, if it makes it onto TV, I do recommend a viewing!

Whilst in town we thought we’d see what was on at the movies and just managed to walk in as “In the Heart of the Sea”, (the true story behind Moby Dick) was about to start.

Hhhmmmm, can’t say the movie knocked my socks off… the attack of the great white marble whale was pure fantasy, but some parts were riveting.  Destroying the whales for their oil is heart wrenching and the scene where the young seaman enters a whale to get the last of the whale oil from its innards was unwatchable for me!     I’d like to say its saving grace was Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth, but I think Tom Holland stole the show.

Finished off the day, with dinner at a lovely harbourside restaurant and watched a Royal Carribbean cruise ship depart the Harbour…. Hence today’s grainy iPad image.
