Transit in SYDNEY

Today is the start of our long awaited holiday to the USA and Canada.
But....Cyclonic weather in Sydney was causing a havoc! Sydney Morning Herald. 

On the way to the airport we received a SMS stating your flight has been cancelled. Uhhhh! Upon ringing up, your flight has been bought forward. yeah! This would be of benefit to us whilst transiting in Sydney ( SYD-LAX).
Just minutes before boarding, your flight (BNE-SYD) has been cancelled. Rescheduled to a later flight. However,  the rebooking was at a time we meant to be leaving SYD for LAX, but we are still in BNE (1.2hr flight time away).
Finally, in SYD (today's blip) and hours of queuing later, we got into our free accommodation (6 hrs later and our LAX flight was 1/2 way to our destination) and many phone calls later, we had our rebooking for Friday am (losing 2 days of our holiday).  But wait where are our luggages?  (apparently somewhere is Sydney Airport) and 2am room service was exciting :-(

Looking at the positive note, we are on holiday of a difference and we get to board an AIRBUS 380-800
