A Snapshot a Day

"It's Christmas Time"

There are lots of things that I have to admit the USA does better than the Uk. Weather, Houses and filet mignon. It is however sadly lacking in the Christmas music stakes.

When we arrived here in 1989 and people put on "Christmas music" it was dirgelike, akin to being at a funeral. Crooners singing miserable songs to slit your wrist to or Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer. British Christmas music on the other hand is far superior fun danceable party music :) OK there is an exception to every rule, thanks Mud!

We arrived here in 1989 and in the pre-interwebitunesyoutube years and all there was for music was radio, and none of the stations played the songs I'd grown up with and loved. In 1992 my brother sent me this. The best Christmas present in the world ever :) Wham, Slade, Wizzard, Jonah Lewie, Band Aid (once more with gusto Bono), John Lennon, Queen, Cliff Richard, Kate Bush, Shakin' Stevens and the unPC Gary Glitter who even got on the cover! Brilliant!

Naturally our kids were indoctrinated with it and we're getting into the Christmas spirit bygiving it a whirl again! "Tonight thank god it's them instead of you"!!! Thanks Bono.
