went to see ian rankin at the book festival this evening - he's always good value, happy to answer even the most inane questions. i'd hoped his new book would be available for the audience as it's due out shortly, but it wasn't to be - so dad doesn't get his birthday gift signed, he just gets a signed ticket as an iou!
