River deep, mountain high

A break in the rain, we decided to risk flooded roads and head into the hills to Gougane Barra, son#1 wanting to try his 'magic lantern for raw video' - some of you might know what that means!  Not sure I do but it's complicated. Gougane is a fabulous place - a massive lake surrounded by rugged mountains and a forest full of tall mossy conifers. In the middle of the lake is a tiny holy island, where St Finbarr once had a small oratory, and now it is one of the most popular wedding venues in Ireland. here it is  in the summer. No one getting married today, in fact we only saw one other person doing some impressive power walking. After all the rain we've been having there were waterfalls everywhere and much gushing. Son#1 checking up on what I'd remembered from yesterday's long exposure lesson.
In anticipation of watching the new Star Wars film we've been catching up with the plot and watching some of the old films - mainly for my benefit as I know nothing! We watched the first in chronological time or the 3rd made and it was truly diabolical!! Dreadful script, dreadful acting and really clunky directing. Last night we watched the first one made - better but I'm not sure I get it! Anyway, we have instructions not to go to the new film till son#2 gets here next week. I think we need something different tonight.

River deep, mountain high worth watching just for the dancing, and she managed to sing after all that!!
