Würzburg Residence Palace

It is one of the most important Baroque palaces in Europe and today it is on UNESCO's World cultural Heritage list.  Designed by architect Balthazar  Neumann, it took 60 years to complete.

The photo shows a small portion of the Mirror Cabinet room completed between 1740 and 1745, and restored between 1979 and 1987. It contains over 600 mirrors.

Fortunately all the furniture was saved prior to the devastating bombing raid in Würzburg  in 1945.

A late friend of mine lived in this complex for 20 odd years as his father was the magistrate of Würzburg  and received a grace and favour apartment in the Residence.

The Great Neumann Staircase is shown in the extra image.
