All set

It was a long, busy, fun day spent (a) preparing for our annual drinks party and then (b) enjoying the fruits of our labour. My blip is of the kitchen table just before the first arrivals came to our front door.

We started work just after 09:00am. We made 4 dozen mince pies, 4 dozen mini quiches (bacon and veggie), 4 dozen crecy pies (veggie), and a stack of roasted nut balls (vegan). We put these out with other (semi-healthy) snacks such as carrot and celery sticks. I prepared three trays of (not so healthy) cocktail sausages in honey and soy sauce to serve hot throughout the evening. We also had 38 bottles of the fizzy stuff stacked up around the house all in readiness for the arrival of revellers. Bottles could be found in the fridge, in the shoe rack in the porch, and in the cellar. Everything was ready by 5:00pm.

About an hour later the first of around 55 guests arrived. Everyone seemed to have a great time, including blippers gbees, nadinepierce, and Ridgeback13. They ate, drank, chatted, laughed, danced, played guitar and sang - and there was not a single spillage or breakage (hurrah!) The last of our guests left at 2:00am (and if you follow my journal closely, you may be able to guess who that was...)

Exercise today: none, but I was on my feet most of the day.
