Waste not, want not

I had a vegetarian haggis which we were going to have for dinner, but it was a few days out of date.  I was going to put it in the compost bin, but noticed a squirrel in the garden so I broke it into chunks and threw it onto the grass.  And sure enough, the squirrel came and ate it.  A magpie was loitering in the wings, but it didn't stand a chance against the squirrel.  If it hadn't been so wet and windy I would have put it into the bird feeder as it is full of nuts.
