'Georgetown Bushfire'

A nice little sleep in this morning which was much needed. Brian suggested that we drive up to Beauty Point for lunch at the pub next to the Marina.

The drive is only about 35 minutes from his house in Swan Point. A very scenic drive through the Tamar Valley back up to the north coast of Tasmania. While eating our lunch we noticed these big plumes of smoke and after a quick Google search on the phone found out that this was a bushfire in Georgetown, just over the opposite side of the river from us.

Haven't yet checked the news reports to find out if any homes were lost or property damaged, but it looked a fairly decent size. Took this from the deck outside the pub.

After lunch we drove back to a little rainforest gorge (Notley Fern Gorge) and stopped for a ring walk which took around 45 minutes to complete. A beautiful little spot and only saw 4 or 5 other people the entire time we were there.
