City wander

Very busy day wandering around Cordoba. After an excellent meal in Casa Pepe last night, dragging ourselves out of bed just after 7am to make the early shift at the Mezquita (avoid the crowds and the tour groups) seemed a cruelty. But it had to be done, and as we did with the Alhambra we really enjoyed the early light.

So after that, we had a quick breakfast in a nearby cafe, and then took a loop across the river and back across the Roman bridge, stopping regularly for photos. Another coffee followed at Cafe Viena - something of a Cordoba institution, I think. Finally, a wander via a different route back to the hotel for a rest - and on the way I saw this archway and light effects on the Callejo del Indiano - presumably something to do with the conquistadores.

After a visit to the hotel gym to try to stretch out my legs on the stationary bike, we popped out for lunch at No. 10 just up the road. Excellent pork products! After lunch, we wandered across the Plaza Corredera - Cordoba's answer to Madrid's Plaza Major, and sat in the sun having another coffee, whilst Mr A did some time lapsing. Back to the hotel again, by which point I was feeling a bit weary.

Some time later, we're just starting to think about going out to get a bite to eat before turning in. Turning into what, I don't know, but we'll see.
