Merry Christmas, everyone. I hope it's all been up to expectations.

B was watching Captain Horatio Hornblower this morning, starring Gregory Peck. When Capt Hornblower told Lady Barbara that they should reach England by the Spring, and she said that seemed an awfully long time, he reassured her that his ship would get her home "before the first robin". Ah, Hollywood scriptwriters of the 1950s….
