Diefenbaker

Our beloved Alsatian, Diefenbaker, not a very keen model, tried for days to blip him! He just simply lie down and look away, does not even look up when I talk to him, which is very unlike him, he just simply loves attention!
Diefenbaker is just over 11 years old and very close to total blindness, his sight started to deteriorate about 5 years ago, the vet cannot find an obvious cause, but at this stage he just simply collides with things in front of him, runs straight into it, often face first, accompanied by quite a cry!
Fortunately he did not have serious injuries to date! We try to keep his environment as safe and ?blind dog friendly? as possible, by not changing the placement of plant pots and equipment like wheelbarrow and lawnmower, etc. in the garden.
He is a very friendly dog, not aggressive at all, but tends to get a bit irritated lately, probably because he feels insecure when he hears too much people at once and cannot see them!
He fell in the pool one night, about 3 years ago. What a commotion! Fell in the deep side and could not figure out where the steps were, R snr battled about 20 minutes to get him out, needless to say, he stays away from the edge of the pool since then.
