John the Egg: Rest In Pieces

It was transition day at school today - I had the Y4's and Y5's. I already teach the Y5's, and Jnr Snr is a Y4.....eeek!!

It was a day of fun and games more than anything. We did a bit of poetry (that involved me singing like Julie Andrews from The Sound of Music) and went onto teambuilding/fun stuff.

It came a conclusion in the afternoon with The Egg Challenge. They have to throw an egg out of the classroom window (second floor) and it not smash on the playground. I paired them up and gave them each: a plastic cup, 1m string, a polythene bag, 50cm sellotape, a rubber band, 4 matchsticks, 2 straws and 2 pieces of tissue paper. They had to discuss ideas and construct their best one to help the egg survive.

Two of the groups succeeded too!! Very impressive little engineers.

This was John the Egg. He was the first to go out the window, and due to a large flaw in the design, immediately flew out of his plastic carriage and made his own way under gravity to the large chessboard on the upper playground.

He seemed quite happy as he splatted though didn't he?

In other exciting news Mrs H now has the official job title of Assistant Principal (Post 16) - whoop whoop :-D
