Ideas for next garden

Getting ideas at El Castillo de Colomares.

Today is fairly cold. Only 17°C and bit windy and cloudy. So it's a perfect day to explore a little of the tourist sites. We went to Colomares Castle which is a monument, not a historic castle as you could think.

From their site:

"This castle is a monument that tells the epic stone with his discovery of a new world, so-called AMERICA. Was COLON, who with his great faith, presented to the Catholic Monarchs his plan to travel to the west to reach the Indies. That was his dream.

COLON was a great navigator, illustrated in geography, astronomy, Scripture, mathematics, humanities, etc.. He wrote in classical Latin and Castilian beautiful.

He never wrote in Italian or Portuguese. Seven years before the discovery, COLON, presented its plan to other states and only the Catholic Monarchs accepted it.

Marine experts needed for your business and managed to find in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva province. Martin Alonso Pinzon was that those who achieved true "seals" accompany the Admiral. We placed the head of a bronze horse as a symbol of the great ocean by way of Huelva or mythical horse Pegasus.

It was the crown of Castile and Queen Isabel who helped him and believed in him, and there are also bronze shields in perpetual gratitude and recognition.

They left Palos on August 3, 1492, were 96 crew, mostly Andalusians, and after a few days of supplies and repair their ships in the Canary Islands set off for the unknown and came to an island 33 days later. Pillar was the day on October 12, 1492. Isle was it named after SAN SALVADOR, and the natives called "Island of the Iguanas." In the castle there is a small chapel with the image of our Lord and Savior is accompanied by a sailor bell in memory of the Island

Are represented the three ships that Columbus used on his voyage, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria in this castle Monument. The girl at the top of the building, under the arch of La Rabida, the monastery gave shelter to COLON when he arrived from Portugal. La Pinta, in the main facade, this being the ship's finches brothers, with the horse Pegasus, which supports it. The Santa Maria, isolated from the other two, because this ship had an accident and sank on Christmas Day in Santo Domingo. The crew, who were on the order of 39 sailors, were left on the island and did not return to Spain, and who died at the hands of the Indians.

COLON died after making four trips and the castle Monumento Colomares have represented a mausoleum with a beautiful rose window. It is his fifth trip to Eternity, and his remains lie as no one knows where no one knows for sure where he was born.

It was Spain and particularly Andalucía who starred this discovery undoubtedly changed the world, for better or worse according to some as others. But what happened and what we have here and testify stones Colomares castle Monument.

Colomares description written by Dr. Stephen Martin Martin, its creator. Dr. Martin died on February 8, 2001."

It's a bit funny English, but you might manage to get something out of it. Anyway the details of this place were just overwhelming. Lots of ideas if one is thinking about starting to build a garden. I'll add few more to extras.
