Aubergine...

...or Egg Plant as it is known in some parts.
Most people in Nanchang live in apartments with the only outside space (besides the communal gardens) being rather small balconies, and most people glass their balconies in.
However, some people are lucky enough to have roof gardens and my sister is one of those lucky people. She uses this space to grow vegetables such as this aubergine.
