DC: Day 1

After having Potbelly sandwiches for lunch, we headed to the National Mall to start our day. First stop was the National Museum of Air and Space. This was a cool stop; however, it was hard for me to be overly impressed having grown up by the Space and Rocket Center, having visited Kennedy Space Center, and living near Eglin's Air Armament Museum. We did spot a Tomahawk Missile though. Next we visited the National Gallery of Art to see some of the fine works of Monet, Gaugin, da Vinci, Raphael, and Picasso. I've been to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel which is nothing short of amazing, but I have to say that this was pretty cool. Since we were near, we decided to step into the Archives - so glad we did. Viewing the various timeless documents and artifacts in American history was awesome and memorable. Here we saw the Chartres of Freedom (Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and Constitution), emancipation documents, declassified communications, etc. On our way out, caught the pic of the sunset on our way back to the hotel to clean up for dinner.
