Ne'erday walk

At last: a dry day and no huvtaes*. Conscious of the dreadful lethargy of winter, fuelled by far too much food and - last night anyway - a bit too much alcohol, we took a flask of coffee instead of lingering over elevenses, and took it with us to Loch Striven. By the time I took this photo we'd already walked all the way from the Ardyne car park to where the road along Loch Striven begins, and although the road ahead beckoned beguilingly we reckoned it was enough for one morning simply to walk back again.

It was a pale grey, deceptively quiet morning - deceptively because in fact the wind had acquired an easterly slant and was already beginning to make the trees up the road creak alarmingly. It was good to go home and feel warm with exercise rather than the central heating - and to know I'd gone well over the 10,000 steps that seem to constitute the grail these days.
