Shoes...

...on the Danube Promenade, a memorial by sculptor Gyular Pauer from 2005 shows 60 sets of shoes by the riverbank. These symbolise the many people shot by the Arrow Cross militia during the second world war. The bodies then fell into the river. Shoes were precious and were removed beforehand.

This was incredibly moving to see, particularly the little pairs of boots belonging to children.

Another very hot day in Budapest, on and off trams up to the Buda hills and more.
