Hyde Park Corner: Hyacinth Macaw

More out of place in large.
Back blip

Well, this was a surprise.
I was walking from Knightsbridge to Charing Cross, and when I reached the traffic island at Hyde Park Corner I was rather startled to spot two hyacinth macaws. They were by the New Zealand War Memorial, and were eating custard creams given to them by a passer-by.
WHAT?!

The tourists there seemed amused but unsurprised ("Is this typical of London?" ). While ring-necked parakeets are naturalised (and the 7th most common bird in Greater London, as recorded in the most recent RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, with all the biases that entails), these are presumably recent escapees (their calmness might suggests that they are someone's pets...).

I also visited St. James's Park briefly.
Other shots are on Flickr (right from here).
Highlights:
Weird tongue
Taking a stroll (= alternative?)
Pelican portrait
Black-headed gull in flight
Ross's geese marching
