2016

Up at 6.10 with the Bug, who was in a Jolly mood, and we played for a while and read Tabby McTat.

J came up and and joined us for brunch. I cooked Eggs Benedict for the first time (see extra photo). Hollandaise sauce was easier than expected, but I didn't quite realise how buttery the buttery sauce really is. So much butter. Between the five of us we ate 12 eggs. So much eggs.

We had a quiet afternoon, once J headed home and A+M headed to see some friends, then a traditional steak pie, and another game of poker. Then gave A a big bear hug knowing that she heads back south tomorrow, and knowing how much she misses Scotland, and how much we miss her.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the Bug has in store for us this year. He is an absolute joy. At the moment he is frequently described as 'wild' by the nursery nurses (owing, I think, to his 'confident' use of a walker. Not that he needs one - he is well on with his walking (started around 14 months) and his language is really coming on too. He has lots of words. Some of the first were: bird, clock, and car. Some of the newest: bauble, garden, shoes. He's also starting to use Ps and Qs more. Still doesn't ever sleep through, but I just have faith it will come, and am glad that he is fairly consistent.
