Honeysuckle

Visited an exhibition in the new Aberdeen University Library earlier on this week about Bestiary which as you will know is a collection of short descriptions about all sorts of animals, real and imaginary, birds and even rocks, accompanied by a moralising explanation. It seems that writing was a two handed job back in 1200 AD one hand held the quill while the other hald a knife to both sharpen the writing instrument and also scrape off any mistakes from the parchment.
Hence the word pen-knife, which the Swiss have made into a cottage industry.
When making baskets in the Native American way honeysuckle responds well to drawing a penknife down its length.
