Calm Afternoon

After a morning of high winds and heavy rain, the weather calmed down and we were able to walk along the Nature Reserve at Ham Wall.

Nearly posted a blip of a crowd of bird watchers with binoculars and cameras trained on the reeds. There was obviously something unusual in there but all we got was one tiny flash of reddish plumage as it flitted amongst the reed bed.

However, I can never resist a sunset like this one.

At least the improvement in the weather meant we could put off taking down the decorations for another day. I've always hated the bareness of the rooms once they've gone and the confirmation that the specialness of Christmas is over.

I think it also harks back to the days when it meant a return to school and all that entailed was imminent. Just glad I no longer have to suffer that Sunday night anxiety syndrome that I know many fellow teachers felt and, no doubt, still feel.

So, for all those returning to work tomorrow after the festivities hope the transition isn't too painful.
