I'm Not the Only One

Today's as good a day as any to show you this bench on the path that runs along the ocean. I'm juggling an incoming cold and a sore hip, but we were able to get out for a fine stroll and some good clean air. Even saw a string of monarchs hanging in the eucalyptus trees.

I don't know if you'd exactly call it a resolution, but I'm aiming toward doing more inventive cooking for awhile. We used to be vegetarian, then somehow gradually got to a place where every meal seems to revolve around a meat or fish centerpiece. It just seems easier to get a piece of chicken or a chop and fuss it out with some sides and a salad. But it isn't really. Tonight we made a squash and tofu Thai stew from an old Deborah Madison cookbook and boy was that delicious! Resolved: don't be so lazy in the kitchen! There are thousands of recipes you haven't tried yet.

Much needed rain began tonight and is supposed to go on for the week.
