The Radical Road

Went for a walk in Holyrood Park along the radical road at the base of Salisbury Crags.  A great view of the city from here.  This is an image of Salisbury Crags with Calton Hill visible in the distance.  The radical road was funded by Sir Walter Scott to access the quarry at Salisbury Crags.  The building of the road created jobs for returning soldiers after the Napoleonic war.  Many of the returning soldiers had radical notions and this is where the name radical road came from.
