Across the frozen lake

Last day in Iceland and the weather finally improves. A heavy fall of snow overnight has left everything looking pristine and Christmas card like. A wander round the back streets of the city centre and a walk across the lake ( see - I really can walk on water!!) made a fine end to the trip.
Lunch included some Icelandic specialities including preserved shark meat ( buried for 3 months then air dried for another 3 months, served up in small cubes, to be washed down with a local spirit called Black Death. Not for the faint hearted!), whale and dried fish (see extras) which is eaten with butter like crispbread
