Beneath Biscay

The show goes on

After Christmas, tomorrow is 'Reyes' (epiphany), the traditional present giving day in Spain. Here a Christmas market seems to be doing a good trade. Crowds are beginning to form nearby, especially families with children, to watch the procession of the Three Kings, their floats loaded with presents.

I'm not sure whether it's better to give presents at Christmas so that children have the whole holiday to use them, or whether it's better on the 6th January for Reyes, so that they have something more than the return to school to look forward to in January. Our solution is to give a some at Christmas and a some at Reyes, thus respecting both traditions. Seems a reasonable compromise.
