The community members who volunteer their services for one year prepare simple yet delicious meals in a comedor  or dining room. This "stove" is an all in one cooking facility that uses wood as the heat source. On the left of the cook top is a built-in pot (part metal, part clay) for making coffee, in the center is a flat metal surface for cooking pots of soup and beans, and on the right is a comal , which is a commonly used curved surface for cooking tortillas and some other foods. This one is metal, but they are often made of clay.
The lady on the right is making fresh tortillas. Yum. The excellent coffee was served in bowls.
