Epiphany

Twelfth Night/Epiphany is here, so before dinner a last look at the tree and at Epiphany goodies. The Belgians (and French) will have a Galette des Rois,  a  (Three) Kings' cake today (ours was a present from the supermarket). It's pastry with an almond paste filling and there's a little ceramic object in it, who finds that in their slice will be king or queen for the day and gets to wear the crown :-)  In Italy today is the day of La Befana, a kind lady bringing presents to children via the chimney on her broomstick. The story goes that the Three Kings were asking her for directions to Baby Jesus and asked her to come with them. She was so busy cleaning and sweeping her house that she didn't properly understand what they asked and declined to come with them. When she realised later just what their quest was she took everything she had and could give as a gift with her and went looking for Baby Jesus too, however she couldn't find the right way  following the star and left presents everywhere on her quest. The other idea is that with her broom she sweeps away the bad things of the old year. It's also the last day when Italians will eat panettone , a lovely mix of a bread and and a fruitcake. Miniversion next to the Galette des Rois. I've left for Holland with the boys and all the decorations both in Belgium and Holland are down now. Christmas is truly over.

What isn't over is the BlipFuture quest, if for any reason you haven't heard about the problems Blipfoto is facing and the unique chance we have to own Blipfoto our selves, do please have a look at the BlipCentral message here and if you are able please pledge an amount in shares or as donation.

Thanks so much for your comments and stars for yesterday's sole Christmas earring :-)
