Doing Hard Time

Thankfully we were just tourists and not inmates at Fremantle Prison today. The prison only closed in 1991 since opening in 1855 as a 'Convict Establishment'. It is now a World Heritage Site.

From the restored areas we visited on the tour it would have been a miserable to be locked up! Cramped conditions and, of course, the heat!!

Very interesting tour though, I didn't fancy taking pictures inside when you think of what must have gone on in there so this is one from the outside!
