Goodwill

For multifaceted reasons we make a point to make annual material donations to Goodwill. Most importantly, we accumulate more 'stuff' than we actually need, and there are folks that can actually use these items for free or at a drastically reduced cost. Of course one of the benefits other than the goodwill of the acts themselves is that these donations are tax deductible. These annual donations help minimize the accumulation of 'things' and reduce clutter. Just like every other year for the past 10 years we gathered, sorted, and logged our donations for drop off. Guess which 2 items they would not accept at Goodwill? Yes, the 2 working, bubble-screen televisions from the 90's. Why not one may ask? Apparently it is because they take up too much space. I was surprised but not. So, I decided to try the streets. Would anyone take them? During my 30 minutes while at home for lunch I grabbed 2 sheets of college rule paper, marked them both with "Free Working TV" and then put them on the street. What was the result? One was gone in 10 minutes and the other was gone by the time we got home that evening. Apparently there is still a demand for these televisions when priced appropriately in the right market.
