Tattered

Eastern Swallowtail ~ Papilio glaucus

These butterflies are very common to North America but not so common in my back yard, even with the gladiolus and the butterfly bush. I see lots of Monarchs, bees, and cabbage whites.

I set out this morning with all good intentions of accomplishing something, anything, but then I spotted this tattered beauty and all bets were off. It was wonderfully large and graceful as it flew above my roofline. Come back, come back! I telegraphed to it's antennae. He heard me.

It's fairly early for me to be posting considering my track record lately, so I think I'll actually get the pool vacuumed and the clothesline strung after all.

Have a fabulous Friday everyone!!
