SIGNS

Wet-Umbrella Bags

This was at the entrance of a bookstore.

I liked the simple figure, with just two colours effectively and nicely used so as to imply that wet umbrellas are not welcome in the store. The Japanese sentence just below the figure does not ask the customers to put their wet umbrellas in bags; it only invites them to put the bags in the box after use. The communicative purpose of the overall sign (= to ask the incoming customers to bring their wet umbrellas in bags) would therefore be only implied, with the figure having no message by itself and the text merely focusing on 'after use.'

We've had lots and lots of rain in here, which may explain the box filled with so many bags.
