Victoria Works Leeds

We travelled back through Leeds after orienteering in Rotherham(!).  I have seen these derelict mill buildings many times and made a mental note.........
In the foreground is a door belonging to the Victoria Works, built in 1838 for a tailoring company, Botterill and Senior. In the extra you can see the rear buildings of Victoria Works and the splendid 7 storey, Grade II* listed Hunslet Mills, a former steam-powered flax mill adjacent to the river Aire, also built in 1838.  In 1847 there were 1500 flax reelers employed there.   It closed in 1966.  Victoria Works closed in the 1970s.
