Tender Loving Care

A trip over to the Dark Side to see the famous locomotive and its tender running on the East Lancs Railway.

I decided to avoid the crowds at Bury and Ramsbottom and head for the end of the line at Rawtenstall to await the arrival of the 14:33.

I stood in the freezing cold with lots of others waiting. Trains came and went. I watched the passengers enjoying their wine and chicken in the dining cars. I talked with the volunteers.

The Scotsman appeared over an hour late. It was rater disappointing as it was sandwiched between loco 45407 and the carriages.

After seeing the train at Rawtenstall I drove over to Ramsbottom to see it pass over the level crossing (see extra) although, by this time, it was quite dark.

It looks like quite a lot of blippers were out and about on the line, including DramaQueenChrissie1butter, Kathymay and Bee writer.

Short clip here

One of the volunteers said that it was likely to be painted in its traditional green livery this coming week and may look quite different next weekend.
