Wintery Flood Plains

We stopped off at Burrowbridge on the way to Taunton this morning. The fields here have been deliberately flooded, I think, to prevent the nearby River Parrett overflowing and flooding the road and surrounding villages as it did last year, when houses were under up to ten feet of water. Touch wood it seems to be working.

As we were leaving, a police officer arrived; there was a car just out of picture that had, it turned out, been stolen and abandoned. The keys had been thrown into the field and the officer had the unenviable task of looking for them. He'd gone by the time we passed on the way back!
