It's no game

Was very saddened by the news of Bowie's death today. I missed his great period, Scary Monsters being the first of his albums I bought (& which if done by anyone else would stand as their best album). It was a sign of anyone "serious" about music that they went through a discovering Bowie phase. You knew going through that back catalogue this is music for grown up people. I liked Bowie a lot, but there are people I know who adored him, for whom he was the single greatest influence on their lives.
Although he is forever associated with Berlin and New York, there was something very British about him too. For all the UKIP, little England interpretations on Britishness, it is people like Bowie that capture Britishness (if that means anything at all).
May have a glass of wine & listen to some albums tonight...
