The Butterfly Tree

This evening I went to a talk in our village hall. It was given by a lady called Jane Kaye-Bailey, who founded and has run for 10 years, a charity called The Butterfly Tree
To cut a long story short, she started the charity with the aim of looking after the hundreds of thousands of orphans in Zambia who lost their parents due to the HIV and AIDS pandemic.  Her charity now helps many rural communities across Zambia with water, food, health and education, and also malaria prevention.
This lady has done all this with only a handful of helpers, none of whom receive any payment. She does not even take her expenses from the charity, but pays for her own travel and expenses, and also for the day-to-day running costs of the charity.
Needless to say, many of us bought these calendars, which we may not necessarily need, but the money will go a little way to helping.
This is exactly the sort of person who needs to be recognised when awards are given out, not actors or celebrities, who are actually only doing what they enjoy and get paid for.
I did mean to take a shot of her stand, but unfortunately by the time I had finished talking and turned around, it had been taken down, so you have got the front of the calendar instead.
