On the look out . . .

Lots of shags in the bay at the moment.  They frequently appear in huge numbers, great rafts of them on the water.  Our bird watching neighbours, equipped with binoculars and telescope, counted 700 from their sitting room window one day!  Birdwatching in the warm - to be recommended!

I spotted this one down on the rocks at the bottom of the cliffs this afternoon.  He's obviously been there a while, or it's a favourite spot, from the amount of guano staining on the rock behind him!

Another bright and sunny day with just the occasional sleety shower.  This morning I had to nip into Kirkwall for a hospital appointment and spotted the extra in the outpatients waiting room!  I really feel sorry for anyone working in the NHS, it's not a fun place to be at the moment . . . Anything to lighten the mood!
