...and Barnsley aren't often linked together in the same sentence, but we went into Barnsley today on two counts - firstly to view the RPS exhibition at the Civic, and secondly to see Gerald Scarfe's cartoons of Maggie Thatcher from the eighties. It was worth a visit, but I thought I'd be more wowed by the photography, and the Scarfe material could almost have been from today - in that sense, very depressing!
This sculpture sits outside the Town Hall - it is by Nigel Hall, and is on loan from the YSP. I liked its solidity against the cloudy blue sky.
