Is this winter?

We have had our first snowfall this evening. Despite all the warnings it caught us on the hop.
 
Three cars were abandoned at the bottom of our hill and I  met one of the  carers for our 92 year old neighbour having to walk the last quarter of a mile.
 
I like snow but I suspect this is only going to last a couple of days, at the most.
