The Frozen River

Today we are back at Hola Community College (folkhögskolan) for Jan’s third workshop with volunteers teaching Swedish to newly arrived refugees.
While she was working I took a walk down to the river. It was sunny, still, and -25° C.
I was here, in exactly the same place, and blipped on the 27th November. On that occasion  there was a single small icefloe in the otherwise liquid river. As you can see things have chilled down since then.
In the distance is an island and there’s a cloud of fog to the left of the island. This is where the main flow of the river runs faster, so the water is still open there and creating this local mist. Otherwise virtually all moisture is now frozen and the air is very dry.
PS For those of you living in warmer climates your domestic freezer is probably about -21° C, slightly warmer than here!
