Parish Church of St Peter, Selsey

In the mid 19th century the Parish Church was located some 2 miles away at Church Norton, when the congregation decided it was not convenient. The church was demolished and relocated stone by stone on its present site in the village.

Among many interesting things in this old church is this small piece of stained glass in the porch window, portraying the finding of King Richard III’s battered crown in a hawthorn bush by Sir Reginald Bray. It was rushed to Crown Hill in Stoke Golding where [some would say the turncoat] Sir Stanley crowned Henry Tudor, Henry VII of England. The work of the Pre-Raphaelite School.
